Neuqua World Voices is a large extra-curricular vocal ensemble dedicated to discovering and intimately experiencing the musical traditions and styles of music from cultures throughout the world. The 2011-2012 season marks the 13th year for Neuqua World Voices, a unique component of the Grammy Award winning Neuqua Valley Music Department.  Besides exploring the world's unique musical cultures in weekly rehearsals, students in Neuqua World Voices experience exciting performances, the music of guest artists, and enjoy weekly camaraderie.  Over the years, we have learned to use our voices in new ways, explored authentic instruments, listened to music around the world, and noticeably grown in our musicianship. What's on tap for this year?  Some of the cultures we will be exploring during the 2011-2012 season include Spain, Ireland, Russia, Japan, India, Canada, Jamaica, Aruba, Nicaragua, China, Great Britain, Hungary, Mexico, Chile, and cultures native to the United States.  In the end, as students involved in the past years will tell you, Neuqua World Voices is simply fun!  

CONVENIENT REHEARSAL TIME!
Neuqua World Voices will be rehearsing after-school on Tuesdays from 2:45pm-4:15pm in the Main Campus Choir Room.  This convenient time affords students the opportunity to be involved in Neuqua World Voices immediately after school, providing the rest of the afternoon and evening for other family, school, community, and academic commitments.  After school conflicts with other NVHS activities will be easily resolved according to the Neuqua World Voices attendance policy, please simply communicate with Mr. Rington regarding these potential conflicts.  As the group transitions into the Spring, 2012 season, there will be some Tuesday evening rehearsals to especially accommodate the numerous members involved in the Spring Musical Production and other Spring activities.

Besides performing on every curricular, quarterly choral concert, Neuqua World Voices will be presenting an entire performance of their own on January 19th with the Neuqua Valley Steel Band and WildCat Fiddlers!  In the end, Neuqua World Voices promises to be an outstanding, unique experience again this year, an opportunity that the faculty in the music department are proud to provide, and one that is simply not a normal amenity of school music programs.

Here's some important information to keep in mind to be a part of the 2011-2012 ensemble.  First, you are not required to be in a curricular choir to be in Neuqua World Voices – it is open to all students, so invite your friends!  Secondly, as a member of Neuqua World Voices, you will receive 5 points which will count towards Performing Arts awards and patches.  Furthermore, Neuqua World Voices is not an auditioned ensemble, anyone can simply come, join, and be involved!
