Welcome Prospective Marching Band students and parents

Thank you for your interest in joining the 2008-2009 Marching Wildcats. The links above are designed to give you information about the marching band and the marching band season so you may make an informed decision about joining the band. The halftime show for the 2008-2009 season will be selections from Carl Orff’s dramatic work, Carmina Burana. If you do not know the piece by title, then google Carmina Burana or O Fotuna to hear an example. I bet you have heard this somewhere before.

Last season 180 members joined us for the marching band season, 56 of which were new to the Marching Wildcats. Visit the photo gallery and see some highlights from last year.  We hope to grow even larger for the 2008-2009 season, so please join us!

Some of the season highlights will include the following performances: Five home football games (including one at North Central College), two Naperville parades, and three marching band festivals (including one at the University of Illinois). So, come join us for a season of hard work, incredible rewards, and a great deal of fun!

  Sincerely,
  Jonathan Lauff
  Director, NVHS Marching Wildcats

The main ideals of the Marching Wildcats are:
  • Marching Band is a student leadership training device.
  • Music and Movement are the primary tools for learning.
  • Any band student is welcome to join the wind or percussion section. Any NVHS student is welcome to join the colorguard
  • We strive to perform our best, and we do not have to beat other bands in competition to feel good about our performances.
  • We enjoy playing at home football games, marching band festivals, and parades.
  • The NVHS Marching Band is an ensemble that comprises one piece of the NVHS Band Program.

Successful Participation Includes:

  • Attendance at every rehearsal and performance

  • Having the appropriate materials at every rehearsal and performance

  • Giving 100% effort at every rehearsal and performance.

  • Being able to perform the music from memory as if you were playing a concert in the auditorium

  • Being able to march the show without relying too much on your neighbors
