The NVHS Acapella Ensemble Program!
Thank you for your interest in the NVHS Acapella Ensemble program - an activity where NVHS students have an absolute blast working together in small student-led vocal ensembles performing popular music covers, contemporary acapella music, and even sometimes original songs! We invite any and all students that are interested to be a part of these awesome and rewarding vocal music groups.
During the 2020-2021 school year, several ensembles absolutely thrived and plan to continue during the 21-22 school year. They will likely be taking in new members, but the NVHS Acapella program will be also looking to start additional groups! Check out these recordings from the groups last Spring:
To Be Natural (Mixed Acapella Group):
Tonal Eclipse (Treble Acapella Group):
So, how do you get involved? Easy! Just sign up! There's no audition necessary as we are going to create as many groups as we can to account for as many students that are interested! Once again, To Be Natural & Tonal Eclipse will be continuing and my be looking for additional members, and new groups will be formed. While students not in a curricular choir can always, the core of the ensembles will be connected within the ranks of the NVHS curricular choirs. For example, the hope that each curricular choir has as least one new (and perhaps more) acapella groups that come of out its ranks. It will be a great way for students within each choir to get to know and work with each other more in these fun ways with contemporary music! Plus, students in the same choir often share lunch periods and have similar schedules which will encourage them to continue to more easily connect to rehearse. So, in summary, groups from last year will still continue, and students new to the Acapella program will be steered to groups from within their choirs, and interested students outside of curricular choirs will be sprinkled into the various groups.
Once the groups are formed this fall, the primary regular rehearsal day and time has usually been Tuesday afternoons and we hope to aim for this as well during the 21-22 school year. But, there certainly is flexibility to use alternative days/times if it best for all the members of the group. By the way, students in acapella are often involved in other clubs, activities, and athletics too, and we are usually able to make it all work!
So, to begin, all you need to do is the following three things:
1) Frist, sign-up on the form below expressing your interest in the Acapella program and we'll put you in the group.
2) Second, challenge yourself to get at least one other friend to be involved as well! Nudge, bribe... whatever you need to do! They won't regret it!
3) Third, plan to attend the Acapella program kick-off day at 2:45-4pm in the Main Campus Choir Room on Tuesday, September 14th.
So, to get involved, all you need to do for now is simply get signed up below then mark your calendar for Tuesday, September 14th at 2:45pm! Go for it, and get involved! This is going to be so fun!
